Mzund
Type Dwemer Ruin
Continent Tamriel

Mzund is a Dwarven ruin. Its exact location is unknown, though it was no further than eighteen days' travel from Arkngthamz. Mzund is known to contain an ancient Dwemer library.[1] It was abandoned in 1E 700 when its original Dwemer inhabitants mysteriously disappeared.[2]

In the Fourth Era, the publication of The Aetherium Wars by Taron Dreth prompted the explorer Katria to enter Mzund in search of the Aetherium Forge. Katria was the true author of the research published by Dreth, and within Mzund she discovered an ancient tome containing a map of First Era Dwemer kingdoms. Soon after visiting Mzund, she headed to Arkngthamz, where she tragically died.[1][3]

Circa 4E 201, the Dunmer wizard Ulyn and his companion Eydis ventured to the ancient Dwemer site of Fahlbtharz in search of a Dwarven helmet known as the Visage of Mzund.[4][5] They perished before being able to reach the artifact.[6][7] The helmet was later discovered by the Last Dragonborn within the treasure room inside Fahlbtharz. It bestowed the wielder the ability to release a powerful steam attack known as the Breath of Nchuak.[8]
